Frequently Asked Questions:
Is it hard to make the impressions at home?
- We’ve helped thousands of people successfully make their at-home impressions using our kit. Because everyone’s mouth is different, it’s important to have an impression tray that adjusts. In 2018, we patented our adjustable tray to make it even easier to get a perfect impression. We include an extra set of impression material, just in case. You’ll want to watch the video and make sure you’ve got everything prepared properly. But in our experience, making the impression at home is much easier than scheduling an appointment, driving across town, sitting in a waiting room, and spending hundreds of extra dollars to have your orthodontist do this for you.
How Long Does It Take to get my new retainers?
- As soon as your impression is received, it will take approximately 10 business days before your replacement retainers are completed and shipped. International shipping can be a lengthy process. Please be patient when ordering internationally. (We ship same day orders Monday through Friday with orders placed before 5 PM CST) During holiday sales, we experience a massive influx of orders. While we will do our best to complete your order as quickly as possible, processing times are subject to change with orders from holiday sales. Please be patient with our team during these times.
If you are in an extreme rush, we do offer an emergency retainer(s) option which will guarantee that you receive your new retainers in 6-7 business days. To Order Emergency Retainers follow this link: Emergency Retainers | Sporting Smiles
What if I mess up on my impression?
- If the impression material hardens or the impression doesn't come out well, we will send you out a replacement putty free of charge, the tray is reusable. If the kit is sent in and the impression(s) were bad it would be a 15 dollar charge to cover shipping you another impression kit to you.
Are your products BPA Free?
- Yes! All our products (retainers, whitening trays, night guards, and mouthguards) are BPA, BPS, DEHP, and latex-free.
Does DN Retainer accept HSA or Flex payment options?
- Yes! You can use your HSA card and if any special invoicing is required DN retainer will work with your insurance company to complete the transaction. Teeth-grinding guards are an excellent choice to spend your HSA account on. Teeth-grinding is a serious oral health issue and without proper care or a solution can lead to expensive surgery or permanent facial reconstruction as the jaw bone shifts.
Can I add whitening trays to my night guard order?
- Yes, but UPPER AND LOWER IMPRESSIONS ARE REQUIRED!
You will receive enough supplies to make an impression of your upper and lower teeth even though you ONLY ordered 1 upper or 1 lower for your clear retainer as you WHITEN your upper and lower teeth.
Whitening Trays are made with diffrent material than the plastic retainer. Whitening Bleach can not be used on essix retainers, only custom whitening trays.
Can I Use My Own Molds To Get Retainers?
- Yes! DN retainer accepts molds from new customers who have 3D Printed, Plaster or Stone Molds. We will accept 3D printed, plaster or stone molds if you have them and opt not to choose our impression kit but a $35 surcharge will be added to the order. When we receive your molds, they will automatically be scanned into our 3D system and saved on file for life. This means you'll be able to reorder from DN retainer whenever you'd like. I Have a Small Mouth, Do You Have Smaller Impression Trays?
- Our patented impression trays fit over 95% of our customers because they are adjustable and are designed to fit any mouth, large or small. In some rare cases, if you know you have a small mouth we do offer smaller trays. If you are in this percentile for small mouths, please contact our customer service before ordering so we can put a note on your order to send small trays.
Return / Refund Policy
DN retainers (with care) will typically last anywhere from 6 months to 2 or 3 years regardless if purchased from your dentist or through DN Retain. However, in the unlikely event that you are not fully satisfied with the fit of your retainer within the first 60 days (120 days for premium retainers)*, we will provide a full refund (minus any applicable shipping or taxes) or a replacement. Whichever you prefer.
In addition, if you no longer wish to proceed with your order, for any reason, we are happy to provide you with a full refund (minus any applicable shipping or taxes) within 60 days* of purchase.
Keep in mind, your retainer's lifespan can be shortened considerably if you grind or clench your teeth when wearing at night. If your retainer has cracked and you would like a replacement, please consider getting a grind guard retainer. This product will of course still retain your teeth, but is a bit thicker and will take more clenching and grinding.
Getting you a product that meets and even exceeds your expectation is our #1 priority. If you have any additional questions regarding our refund, return or cancellation policies, please do not hesitate to contact us.
*Refund contingent on unwanted products being returned within 60 days of purchase.
